From the blog: Jackson Park Pilot Program expands tenant protections on Chicago's South Side

The Chicago City Council has expanded tenant protections in a stretch of the South Side surrounding the Obama Presidential Center, creating new rights for renters when their building goes up for sale and requiring landlords to give more notice before ending a tenancy. The ordinance was introduced by 5th Ward Alderperson Desmon Yancy.

The legislation renames the previous "Woodlawn Pilot Program" to the Jackson Park Pilot Program (view map) takes effect on Monday, April 6, 2026. This program is similar to the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Block (606) Pilot Program, which we described in another blog post.…
